Gapanbulu was especially proud of this instrument and pointed out that he worked on it for days. His pride is absolutely justifiable: this yidaki is an outstanding player and it's not only the spectacular shape which is so striking. As might be expected from the form, the volume of the bore is large - what's really unusual here however is the wonderful definition and the fine, direct and precise responsiveness. Make no mistake here though - you can really let rip too! On top of that there's the classic traditional sound characteristics with a nice spectrum and a healthy dry bass. The shape at the top of the instrument also means that the toot is a snap to reach. In a nutshell: this yidaki sounds even more spectacular than it looks!     Quicktime movie
