An absolutely classic form, wonderful sound, natural bore and ochre artwork - all attributes that are at the top of our wishlist here at Serious Sticks. This yidaki from Litalita is a precise and snappy player and has plenty of zip for an instrument which lies between D and D#. Overtones can be used for striking accents while the drone remains crystal clear without becoming too sharp. What really knocks your socks off though is how it reacts to "passive" vocals - the rich growl is a real joy. As you would expect with a good trad instrument, the soft toot is easy to reach and is nicely percussive. The structure of the bore, which has only been smoothed a little over the last three or four centimetres, follows the outer taper of the instrument, which definitely contributes to the excellent playabilty and sound. A sensational classic stick with special charisma.  Movie
