A chance not to be missed. A rare opportunity for those with a limited budget to acquire a top-notch traditional instrument. An absolutely thoroughbred, well balanced yidaki in a sought-after key, perfectly suited to traditional playing style. We could easily have marked up this instrument another 50%, which would be fully justified by its quality, but as we picked it up for a ridiculously low amount we're staying true to our principles and gladly passing on our saving and good fortune to whoever grabs it first. Made together by Djali Ganambarr and Djakapurra Munyarryun, and adorned in ochre with Djakapurr's totem, a crane. The yidaki has been worked simply but is solid and pleasing. The sound and playing characteristics are very well balanced: not too harsh, not too dull, high backpressure and an easy transition to the toot, which is at a good interval. Everything you could want from a good yidaki. Movie. |
